Personal items: please do not bring any jewellery or other valuables with you. We are not responsible for any losses. To ensure that the theatre is sterile for your operation, you will not be allowed to wear any jewellery except a wedding ring. Make-up and nail varnish must also be removed before your surgery.
Invoicing
Services rendered for both out-patient and in-patient care are invoiced directly to the patient’s insurer (only in the case of Swiss insurance schemes). Our patient admin team depend on correct insurance details to ensure swift payment.
Radio/TV
You will have access to a small, simple radio and television set. You will need to use headphones for the audio so as not to disturb other patients. You are welcome to bring your own headphones from home (small jack, standard for healthcare establishments) or you can purchase headphones on-site for CHF 7.00. Please also always use headphones with your personal electronic entertainment devices.
Telephone
Privatklinik Obach boasts a state-of-the-art switchboard with direct lines for all patients. You will receive a card with your personal telephone number when you arrive, and you will have opportunity to pass on this number to your friends and family before your operation.
Information desk
The information desk in the entrance hall is our operational hub where everything comes together. The staff there can help if you need anything (extension number: 111).
Anaesthetics
When preparing for a general anaesthetic, it is important that you bring with you all of your current medicines. Please also bring with you any useful documents you may have, such as an allergy information card, results of lab tests, X-rays and ECGs. Please read the enclosed information booklet on general anaesthetics carefully. In the 24 hours following a general anaesthetic, you may not drive, operate machinery or sign any legal documents.
Aftercare
Our nurses will be familiar with your procedure and the potential aftereffects. Following your operation, you will learn about what to expect going forward (specific body care routines, storage, pain medication, any aids, etc.)
Complications
In our experience, complications are rare. However, if you do experience any complications or issues related to your operation after you have been discharged, please contact your treating physician.
